Wednesday 2nd July - walks **** – Snape including picnic – Cloudy with rain:).

We had a bit of a clear out in the loft and auctioned our collection of records/memorabilia including lots by Marc Bolan and T. Rex so treated myself to a set of windsurfing sails, 4 secondhand Tushingham Bolts for less than the price of a brand new sail, as I bought them from Sternfield I had arranged to pick them up this afternoon so that gave us an opportunity to back a picnic and drive a little further than usual parking up at Snape Maltings for a walk towards Iken Church! After the last few days of unbearable heat we had a cloudy day with rain showers making it much more pleasant:) The car park at the Maltings was heaving despite the rain but while everyone else walked left towards the shopping area we headed the opposite way to enjoy the peace and quiet of the lovely Suffolk countryside with the River Alde on one side and farmland on the other with next to no one about and with the light rain falling it was brilliant especially as we actually were organised enough to have an umbrella each! We continued past the dead trees along the long section of wooden walkway and made it as far as the Iken Canoe’s where we took a few weather pics to send to the TV which seems to be a waste of time as the local programmes are being cut short due to more bloody football on! Why can’t they show it on the lesser channels!!! With my heel continuing to play up we turned back after just over a mile and returned to the van for a picnic before going to see a couple of old barges moored near Snape bridge before a very quick trip round the shops selling a collection of expensive smell crap you can defiantly life without, even Mag was not tempted by the plants on sale! It was only a short drive to pick up my sails before returning home for a cuppa, top day:)
